Finally got myself a table where I can build a LEGO city \o/. But it turned out to small to fit both a train track and a city layout, so I’m doing the next best thing: raising the entire city (18 base plates in total) to about 16 bricks height. This allows me run the train (well tube actually, now) under the city.

This post has some under construction photos from the first parts of the build (some things are already being redone).

Initial construction of the tube station. One in front. The other one is visible in the back.
Showing some of the construction under the base plates. Using Duplo and Technic beams to make a frame.
Frame as before, but now with some test base plates.
First tube station finished. Little entrance (in black) for going underground and a dome with windows to get light (and infra red!) into the station.
Second tube station nearing completion, identical dome and entrance as the other one.
Close up of the windows above the station, looking through to the platform and rails.
Station from the side, showing the rails.
Some further refinements and a small pond.
